First time RV Trip

A group of us were thinking of renting an RV (one that holds 9 people) and traveling from Chicago to Nashville. None of us have ever driven an RV. What are your thoughts about the mountain driving and also driving the full 9 hours? We are planning on leaving in the evening and driving straight through to Nashville.

My immediate thought is that you need some practice before driving an RV through the night. It sounds like a recipe for disaster to me - but maybe I'm over-reacting. Mountain driving - read what I've written and just know that it will be slower going up. You'll need to shift into a lower gear going both up and down. Get advice from others as well.

Good luck,
Susan
