Towing with or without a car trailer.

I was wondering if anybody has ever checked the difference in gas mileage while towing a car 4 wheels down or putting it on a trailer and towing it. I have a 2002 Chev Tahoe 4wd and can tow it the only thing it weighs close to 5k. I also have a 2006 Jeep commander AWD that cannot be towed 4down and was looking at putting it on a trailer and towing it. The cost of setting up the Tahoe and towing it would be about the same as buying a trailer and towing the jeep. What do you think.

Here's my best answer: I don't know. Either way, you're towing a lot of weight and it will certainly affect gas mileage - a lot probably depends on your driving habits, and the vehicle you are towing with. Sorry I can't be more help.

I had never tried of this thing but in my concern towing a car will definitely affect the gas mileage of the vehicle. Of course the engine of a car and a jeep differs that's why towing done with a jeep would have less impact on gas mileage. I never try to make such tests with my car because I am very much conscious for it and I think doing such stuffs will affect its engine so performing better servicing and maintenance and enjoying the trips are my rules. Well thanks for sharing this article.
